You'll finish the cherry sauce off by adding some water and cornstarch for thickening.
How to make cherry sauce: step by step

Mix cornstarch and water: While the cherries are warming up, add cornstarch and water to a small bowl. Mix them well, then set aside.

Easy Cherry Sauce

- 2 cups cherries pitted and halved
- 2 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- ¼ cup water
- 1 teaspoon corn starch
Instructions

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, heat up cherries, sugar and lemon juice, about 5 minutes.

In the meantime, mix cornstarch with water in a small bowl and set aside.

As soon as cherry mixture starts to bubble, add the water and cornstarch mixture. Mix until thickened (approximately another 5 minutes).

Remove from heat and cool completely.
