Anyone who knows me knows that I love Italian music. From Lucio Battisti (one of my personal favs) to Negramaro, I'm always interested in (and most of the time) enjoy "what the Italians are listening to." Usually you'll hear the same songs we listen to in Canada, but once in awhile, you're bound to find a few gems by Italian artists. That's why when I was in Italy just a few weeks ago, I made sure to pay attention to the Italian songs that were topping the charts. Extra points if I heard people singing it on the beach.
So here are my top 3 Italian songs for summer 2016:
- Sofia by Alvaro Soler
Ok ok, I know that this song technically isn't Italian. I mean, it's sung in Spanish by a guy from Barcelona. BUT it's no doubt that this is summer's number one hit. I heard it the first night I arrived at my cousin's rehearsal dinner and probably at least twice a day after that for the duration of my trip. This song is catchy, and if you give it a listen, it will definitely get stuck in your head. Plus, Alvaro is so adorable; I could watch the video all day long 🙂 - Vorrei Ma Non Posto by JAx and Fedez
I've been a fan of JAx since his Articolo31 days, but I wasn't really familiar with Fedez. It's easy to see why this song is a hit. First off, the lyrics are basically making fun of today's society and how we're so obsessed with social media that we don't have time to actually live our lives. "Vorrei Ma Non Posto" loosely translates to, "I'd like to, but I'm posting." Besides the lyrics, the song itself is infectious and its easy to see why it's taking Italy by storm. - Comunque Andare by Alessandra Amoroso
While first and second place on this list were clear-cut winners, number 3 is a toss-up. Like a 10-way toss-up. So this one is more based on my personal preference. Alessandra Amoroso just has a way of making a song so...pretty. And that's exactly what this song is. Can we also talk about her sunglasses in this video? *swoon*
So there you have it! My top 3 Italian (sort of) songs for summer 2016.
