This nutella milkshake requires only 3 ingredients (ice cream, nutella, and milk) and comes together in less than 5 minutes in the blender. You'll be turning to this cool and refreshing chocolate-hazelnut treat time and time again!

Nutella. Milkshake. Need I say more?! In this recipe, ice cream and the delicious hazelnut spread are combined to make an amazing beverage. Or would it be a dessert? (speaking of Nutella desserts, check out this no-bake Nutella tart here) Whatever it is, it's delectable!

In Italy, this Nutella milkshake would be called a frappè alla nutella. Frappè in Italy means milkshake. Even though it sounds like it contains coffee, an Italian frappè doesn't necessarily have to have coffee in it!

    What's in it:

The best part about this milkshake is that it's only 3 ingredients:

    • Vanilla Ice Cream
    • Nutella
    • Milk
Nutella milkshake in a glass topped with whipped cream and a bowl of hazelnuts in the background

How to make this Nutella milkshake - step by step

Add the ice cream, milk and Nutella to a blender with the Nutella on top so it doesn't stick to the bottom or sides of the blender (photo 1)

Blend ingredients until smooth (about 20-30 seconds) (photo 2)

Pour into a glass top with whipped cream and hazelnut and chocolate shavings if desired (photo 3)

    Possible additions:

    • Add a couple shots of espresso for an extra kick
    • Add a liqueur like Kahlua or Baileys and make it a frozen cocktail

    Top Tips:

    • Make sure to add the Nutella to the blender last or else it will stick to the bottom and sides of the blender
    • I recommend using whole milk to make this milkshake nice and thick, but you can use a lower fat milk (even skim). The consistency will just be more liquid.
    • Using other ice cream flavors: I opted to use vanilla because it's a nice blank canvas for the Nutella. You could try chocolate or hazelnut ice cream, but you won't taste the Nutella as much since they are stronger flavors.
    • This milkshake is best enjoyed right away, but it will keep nicely in the fridge for up to 24 hours.
