    A Valentine's Day Cookie Box

    By Pina Bresciani — February 10, 2018 (updated May 22, 2025) — Leave a Comment

This Valentine's Day Cookie Box contains your go-to cookies for the big love day! Complete with heart linzer cookies, pink macarons, chocolate covered strawberries, as well as some non-traditional Valentine's cookies like alfajores and almond swirl cookies. It definitely makes a statement!

To be honest I've never been a fan of Valentine's Day. When I was single, I hated it. When I had a boyfriend, I still didn't like it. We never really celebrated for the 7 years that we were together because I wasn't a fan. Plus our anniversary (Feb 2) was always so close to Valentine's day that we thought it was more important to celebrate that. Now that we're married, who knows if we will celebrate? I can picture us doing something very low key like ordering some food in and watching a movie.

I guess I just never like the commercial aspect of the day, with all the flowers, candies, and plush toys that one had to buy. It seemed a bit too overdone to me. And why do we need one day to celebrate our love for our significant other? Shouldn't we be celebrating our love every day? And before this whole Galentine's trend took over where you celebrate Valentine's Day with your girlfriends, I thought, well what about the single people? If they're looking to get into a relationship, Valentine's Day is a great way to make them feel even lonelier. It may as well be called "Singles Awareness Day."

Anyway, that's a bit of background on why I've never been a Valentine's Day fan. Until this year.

When Josh, Rosa, and Clarissa approached me to do a cookie box Valentine's Day collaboration with them, I didn't hesitate! Yes! "What a wonderful idea" I thought.  What's not to like about a box full of delicious cookies?! Suddenly, I didn't find myself dreading Valentine's Day, I found myself looking forward to it. I guess that's what making homemade cookies, allowing yourself to get creative and working with your Instagram besties will do!
We got together and had the best time assembling the box, styling it, photographing it, and eating it of course.

I know you're wondering what all the delicious cookies in the box are. So let me list them (and the recipes!) starting in the top left-hand corner and moving to the right for each line (just like you would read a book):

    1. Alfajores by Josh
    2. Birthday Cake Fudge by Josh
    3. Chocolate-covered strawberries by Clarissa
    4. Pink Oreo Cheesecake cookies by Clarissa
    5. Polvorones by Rosa
    6. Jam-filled birdsnest cookies by Rosa
    7. Candy Heart Cookie Sandwiches by Josh
    8. Naked Red Velvet Cake Pops by Clarissa
    9. Almond swirl cookies with amarene by me
    10. Linzer Cookies with Italian jam by me
    11. Macarons by Rosa
    12. Shortbread bites by Rosa
    13. Ice cream heart sugar cookies by Josh

So that's what happens when 4 food bloggers get together, the ultimate Valentine's Day cookie box! I didn't just learn about baking by making this cookie box. I also learned that if you let yourself, you can maybe end up liking something you didn't like before (even Valentine's Day!). Sometimes, it's just a matter of (cookie) perspective and the help of the people you surround yourself with.
